The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) today announced a gift of $1 million from the Lefkofsky Family Foundation.
Through their foundation, Liz and Eric Lefkofsky directed the gift to the capital campaign for the Shirley Ryan 汤头条app, RIC’s state-of-the-art research hospital, set to open in early 2017. The $550 million, 1.2-million-square-foot Shirley Ryan 汤头条app will be the first-ever “translational” research hospital in which clinicians, scientists, innovators and technologists will work together in the same space, applying (or “translating”) research real time. Specifically, the Foundation’s gift will underwrite the reception space in the pediatric outpatient area.
“We are thrilled to support RIC and the amazing work it does to help so many patients begin their journey to restore their lives,” said Eric Lefkofsky, Groupon Chairman and Co-founder.
The Lefkofsky Family Foundation is a private charitable foundation that was established in 2006 by Liz and Eric Lefkofsky. The purpose of the Foundation is to advance high-impact programs, initiatives and research that enhance the quality of human life. In addition to supporting causes in education, human rights, arts and culture, Liz and Eric Lefkofsky have placed an emphasis on medical care and research.
