Having a parent experience limb loss can be a difficult event for children to understand for several reasons. The ? Amputee Coalition has developed a fact sheet with some tips and advice for helping the entire family unit through the time of transition that occurs when a parent returns home after a limb loss.
Hangar Clinic offers AMPOWER?, a peer-to-peer support program and online community for people with limb loss or limb difference. The mission of AMPOWER is to empower and strengthen those affected by amputation or limb differences through peer mentorship, education, and community. It consists of a nationwide network of trained peer mentors who have successfully recovered and rehabilitated following amputation and want to share their personal experiences with you. AMPOWER peer mentors can connect with you and your loved ones in person, over the phone, or online.
