Stories of Hope and Recovery: A Video Guide for Suicide Attempt Survivors features the stories of three people: Jordan Burnham, who survived an attempt in his teens; Terry Wise, who survived an attempt in her thirties; and David Lilley, who survived an attempt in his forties. Told through the voices of these individuals, their families, and the professionals in their support network, each story recounts one person's journey from a suicide attempt to the life of hope and recovery he/she is leading today.

Developed jointly by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, 1-800-273-TALK (8255), this video guide is intended for use by medical and behavioral health professionals to encourage attempt survivors to seek care after an attempt, when they remain at high risk of suicide. This guide also can be used to help families, friends, and others better understand and support attempt survivors as they work toward recovery. All viewers can find hope in these real-life examples of those who survived an attempt and found joy and purpose in their renewed lives.
