The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that almost 2 million people in the U.S. use an orthotic device. While some orthoses are prefabricated, some patients require a custom-made device. In that case, orthotists make plaster casts of the patient’s limb and craft the orthosis to fit as well as possible.

Wearable Sensor and Video Platform to Monitor Motor Development in Infants
The goal of this project is to develop an automated, precise, quantitative biobehavioral assay for detecting infants at risk, and then rigorously test an early-life intervention to promote typical motor movement and sensory development in those infants in a manner designed for uptake and dissemination.

The RMD recently reached an important milestone: It includes more than 500 measures for everything from walking to executive function to aphasia. Last year, it received almost 5,500 site visits per day and more than 3.7 million page views.
